School Wellbeing Cards

The School Wellbeing Cards are a set of child-centred tools designed to help children and young people share their experiences of school in a way that feels safe and manageable. The range includes three sets of cards, each developed for use across families, schools, and professional contexts, supporting a shared understanding of the factors that may be impacting a child’s wellbeing and attendance. Through a structured but flexible card-sorting process, children are supported to reflect on both the strengths and challenges within their school experience, offering valuable insight that might otherwise be difficult to express. The cards are grounded in psychological theory and resilience research, and are intended to support more informed conversations, clearer formulation, and more compassionate, collaborative responses around the child.

School Wellbeing Web App

The School Wellbeing Cards Web App is a digital version of the cards, designed to help children and young people safely share their experiences of school, including barriers to wellbeing and attendance, as well as strengths and protective factors.

Accessible across devices and suitable for use in school, at home, or remotely, the app supports child-centred conversations in a flexible and engaging way. Responses can be securely saved, downloaded, and shared to support a more joined-up understanding between families, schools, and professionals.

"As an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant), I use the School Wellbeing Cards all the time with my students. It has helped to open up so many new conversations. I also like how visual and beautiful the cards are. They are really tactile and soft and students are quickly drawn to the illustrations, often opening up without really realising it, as the cards spark something for them."
